When you dial from your mobile phone, the phone software converts your voice into data and sends it through the Internet using Voice over Internet Protocol technology (VoIP). VoIP is the technology for transmitting voice conversations via the internet. O-FONE sends the call where you want it, and translates it back into voice.
When the person you're calling picks up the phone, it sounds just the same as any other call. When someone calls you, they dial your number, your phone rings, and all you have to do is answer it. The only difference is much lower rate and phone bills.
Our infrastructure is based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) which is the application-layer control (signaling) protocol for creating, modifying, and terminating calls with one or more participants. SIP is primarily used in setting up and tearing down voice or video calls.
In order to use and perform a call our users need to have a SIP client. Many of today's new cell phones contain SIP clients such as Nokia smart phones, WIFI connectivity model N & E. In addition O-FONE can provide today new SIP application for Nokia and Windows Mobile™ based cell phones, so that you will be able to connect talk and save.
Using the Internet for call enables our customer to make and receive calls from almost any place on the globe. All you have to have is an Internet connection through a Wi-Fi or Broad-Band Internet Access Point. Using your cell phone or our free O-FONE Softphone.
